Free football team generator for fair, balanced teams
Tired of lopsided games where one side wins 12–2? Playrs is a free football team generator that splits your group into balanced teams using how good each player actually is, not luck.
How it works
- Add your players and give each one a score from 1 to 10 for attacking, defending and fitness. Their overall rating is the average of the three.
- Tick who’s playing this week and choose how many teams and how many players per team.
- Tap Generate. Playrs tries many different line-ups and picks the one where the teams’ average ratings are closest. Each team’s average attack, defence and fitness are shown too, so you can see the balance at a glance.
- Share the teams in your group chat. Not quite right? Reshuffle for a different fair mix, or swap two players by hand and watch the averages update.
Why it’s fairer than picking captains or pulling names from a hat
- Random generators ignore ability, so you can still end up with all the good players on one side.
- Captains’ picks leave the same people chosen last every week.
- Playrs balances on each player’s overall rating (the average of their attack, defence and fitness), and avoids putting the same team-mates together week after week when that doesn’t cost balance.
Built for weekly games
- Works for 5-a-side, 6-a-side, 7-a-side, 11-a-side, and two or more teams.
- Every matchday is saved to History, with the ratings as they were on the day.
- Install it on your phone’s Home Screen: it opens like an app and works offline at the pitch.
- Free on one device, with no sign-up. Optional Playrs Online keeps your squad in sync across devices and lets you share it with other organisers.
Questions
Is the football team generator free?
Yes. Picking teams, editing players, swaps and history are free on your device with no account. Playrs Online, for syncing and sharing a squad between organisers, is an optional subscription with a free trial.
How does Playrs make the teams fair?
Each player has attacking, defending and fitness scores from 1 to 10, averaged into an overall rating. Playrs tries many line-ups and picks the one where the teams’ average ratings are closest. It also shows each team’s average attack, defence and fitness, so you can swap a player if one side ends up with all the defenders.
Can I make teams for more than two sides?
Yes. Choose how many teams (two or more) and how many players per team. If the numbers don’t divide evenly, Playrs makes teams that differ by one player and balances them on total rating.
Do I need to download an app?
No. Playrs runs in your browser at playrs.app. On iPhone or Android you can add it to your Home Screen so it opens full screen and works offline.
